Emberfall Saga

Emberfall Saga is the kind of mobile RPG that respects your time. Combat is turn-based and laid out clearly, so you can plan a fight in a few seconds and never feel lost about who's about to hit whom. The party of four heroes each have distinct roles, and swapping abilities before a boss actually matters.

The writing carried me further than I expected. It's a fantasy story about a fading capital and the people trying to hold it together, told through short, well-paced scenes you can skip if you're just here to fight. I wasn't skipping. The vertical layout means you can play the whole thing one-handed, which is rare for something this systems-heavy.

Battery use is moderate, and there's a battery-saver option in settings that caps the frame rate during exploration. Smart touch. My only gripe is that the early hours are a little slow to open up, but push past the first zone and it clicks.
