Neon Circuit Rush

★★★★☆ 4.3 Editor rating

Neon Circuit Rush is unapologetic arcade racing. Boost pads, drifting, and neon tracks that curl through the sky. There's no pretense of simulation here, just the pleasure of holding a drift around a long corner and feeling your boost meter fill.

You get two control schemes and both are done well. Tilt steering feels responsive without being twitchy, and if you hate tilt like I sometimes do, the touch buttons are big and placed sensibly. I settled on tilt for steering with a touch button for boost, and it just worked.

It's a great pick-up-and-play game. Races are short, restarts are instant, and the sense of speed is real. The soundtrack does a lot of heavy lifting too. Battery use is reasonable for a 3D game, though the screen brightness those neon tracks encourage will cost you.
